The workers at John Deere are voting to authorize a call for a strike. The 10,000 workers at the twelve plants that span Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas are asking the Fortune 100 company to share its prosperity directly. John Deere has relied on the Midwest community for its labor, yet the company’s passive conduct has sent its income to its general spending. “The workers in the Quad Cities need their voices heard,” Sarah Elgatian, Vice Chair of the Quad Cities chapter of Democratic Socialists of America, “John Deere has been a significant employer in our region for its entire history as a company. To provide the workers less than what they earn for the company is a slap in the face. Deere needs to stop thinking of their workers as a commodity and instead as the key to their profits.”
QC DSA stands with the Quad City workers of UAW, because an injury to one is an injury to all.
